Dr Lisa H. Verzier
Lisa H. Verzier earned her PhD from the University of Melbourne, conducting research at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute. She is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Catteruccia Lab at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Her research centers on host-parasite interactions, with a particular focus on the Plasmodium falciparum mosquito stages and sporozoites. As part of a large collaborative initiative, her recent work produced a single-cell atlas of P. falciparum mosquito stages, revealing previously uncharacterized interactions between parasites and mosquito midgut cells.
Lisa’s expertise encompasses the entire parasite life cycle across multiple Plasmodium species, integrating big-data analytics with laboratory experiments to identify critical factors driving P. falciparum transmission.
